And so the long day wore on.

Yesterday I had no Internet, TV, or home phone.  The problem turned out to be that the box in the basement, the mysterious FIOS box, is connected to the upstairs neighbor’s electricity, which had been cut off.  I found that out today.  The poor woman now has an extension cord coming off her porch, through my kitchen door, and over to the outlet by the cat litter boxes.  The other half of the outlet is full of a cord leading out the door, down the stairs, and the box.  I can’t function without the Internet.

I also can’t function without a cell phone, and it was a good thing I had one yesterday.  We can no longer afford them.  Tomorrow we’re switching to prepaid cards, fortunately compatible with our own phones.  Dan’s phone is just going phut.  He’s paid needlessly for the damned thing, which broke months ago.  I will never let him pay another penny for my phone service.

Chuck was unhappy about the service interruption.
